An overview of the venues that host performances, festivals and trade fairs, and how to follow what's on.

Bahrain's events calendar is concentrated in the cooler months, when concerts, theatre, festivals, sports and trade fairs fill the diary. Knowing which venues host which kinds of events makes it easier to plan a trip around them.

Performing arts

The Bahrain National Theatre on the Manama waterfront is the main stage for orchestras, Arabic music, dance and drama. A spring cultural season has long brought visiting artists to the theatre and to other venues around the islands, including heritage houses in Muharraq.

Open-air concerts

Larger concerts often take place outdoors in the cool season. An open-air amphitheatre at the Sakhir circuit hosts international artists, and big sporting weekends are often paired with concerts.

Exhibitions and trade fairs

Trade fairs and consumer shows are an important part of the calendar. Exhibition World Bahrain, a large purpose-built venue in Sakhir that opened in the early 2020s, hosts major fairs, while the older Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sanabis has long been a fixture of the events scene. Shows range from jewellery and design to industry and food.

Museum programmes

The Bahrain National Museum and the site museum at Qal'at al-Bahrain host temporary exhibitions, talks and family activities alongside their permanent galleries.

Following what's on

Schedules are announced by venues and organisers, often only a few weeks ahead. Use their official channels for dates, tickets and entry rules. These listings stay general on purpose and do not sell tickets or speak for any venue.

Making a trip of it

If you are travelling for a specific event, pair it with heritage and food experiences that suit the season. A trade fair at Sakhir can be followed by sunset at the Tree of Life; a theatre evening by a morning in the National Museum next door. The calendar shows which months usually work best.
